internet cafe is a place where many people come to rent the computers with connected to the internet. internet cafe usually offer browsing, chatting, online gaming, printing, scanning, and so forth. The price was also relatively affordable, in fact, i often find an internet cafe that is filled full of student to play online games.
i will compare the price to be paid for using the internet cafe and buy a notebook plus modems, approximately like this :
usually, internet cafe put up average rates Rp 1000 - 4000 / hour (depending on internet cafe)
I will calculate how much money I spend in a month on internet cafe
average per hour = (1000 4000) / 2 = Rp 2.500
so,
2500 x 30 x 4 hour = Rp 300.000 / month
is one month enough? I am addicted to the internet. i will calculate how much i spend money for 3 years.
300,000 x 3 years x 12 months = Rp 10.800.000
Over Rp 10 M? i spend for nothing but fun.
How much money to buy a wireless modem plus notebook :
-wireless modem = Rp 200,000
-notebook = Rp 5.000.0000
total = Rp 5,2 M
and my monthly fee for internet subscription for 3 years :
100,000(per month) x 3 years x 12 months = Rp3.600.000
total
5,000,000 + 3,600,000 = Rp 8,6 M
Worth, imho.
Well, we can see that comparison. it took several months to make me notice and stop spending money on the internet cafe and thinking "what do I get from playing here?" , "What can I get if I choose to save money rather than go to the internet cafe?".
Whereas, for Rp 2 M dollars, i can buy something useful than sitting with no income for 3 years in the internet cafe. i can buy a faster graphic card for my PC with Rp 2M.
There are a lot of threats that can lead to the internet cafe to be bankrupt. for example, wireless internet monthly fee are already affordable, notebook price is getting cheaper, internet mobile is more easier for browsing only, and free internet access wi-fi on public area.
prospect ? depend on creativity of internet cafe owner. That will keep the internet cafe survive.
